There’s never been a better time to visit Kensington Palace, with 2017 honouring the 20th anniversary of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales marked by celebration of some of her most beautiful outfits. Our day trip is an unmissable opportunity to get a closer look at the ‘people’s princess’s’ chic outfits and discover the evolution of her image and style.
You’ll explore the historic royal abode which was a place of unique significance in her life; the place she called home from 1981 and today the home of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, and view the celebrated outfits from throughout her life which will be on display.
Highlights of the visit include the glamorous evening gowns worn on engagements in the 1980s and the chic suits that made up her ‘working wardrobe’ in the 1990s, the pale pink Emanuel blouse worn for her engagement portrait by Lord Snowdon in 1981 and Victor Edelstein’s iconic ink blue velvet gown, famously worn at the White House.
Other attractions at Kensington Palace include the Queen’s State Apartments where you can explore these cosy, private rooms that were once used by Queen Mary II for relaxation, and The King’s State Apartments, a sumptuous set of rooms each grander than the last, and the Palace Gardens are an intimate, tranquil and secluded oasis where the highlight is the Sunken Garden.
