With the new 12-sided £1 coin now in circulation, why not go behind-the-scenes to see another side to the coins in your pocket? Gain unprecedented access on our day trip to the Royal Mint Visitor Centre.
The purpose-built attraction in Wales opened to visitors just last year, to illustrate the inner workings of the Royal Mint for the first time in its 1,000-year history. Offering the finest craftsmanship and cutting-edge techniques, they make coins and medals for over 60 countries – and it was here that they worked to strike the new ground-breaking £1 coin, the most secure in the world.
Thousands of glistening coins will be hot off the press as the guided factory experience will take you behind the journey of producing every coin. From the craftsmanship that goes into each miniature work of art, to the precision of striking over 700 coins per minute, this is a unique opportunity to learn something new about one of our oldest institutions, Britain’s oldest manufacturer.
Stewarts Tours have a day trip to Monmouth and the Royal Mint Visitor Centre on Wednesday 26th April 2017. Please click here for more information or to make a booking.
